How to avoid “regressing” or “duplicating” your DSST exam.

Why do we insist you speak with your academic counselor before taking your DSST test?

It would be best if you didn’t risk “regressing” or “duplicating” your exam.

Regression

Regression happens when you take a DSST exam that’s at a lower academic level than a college course that you’ve already taken.

Duplication

Duplication occurs when you take a DSST exam similar to a college course you’ve already taken.

In either case, even if you pass your DSST exam, you won’t be awarded any units.

Don't make this mistake!

Solution

If you’ve taken any previous college courses with similar DSST exam titles, you’ll want to double-check with your counselor to ensure no conflicts.

Your academic counselor can review your transcripts and ensure you don’t regress or duplicate any DSST exam titles.

If you haven’t already done so, read our article: 5 Questions You Should Ask Your Academic Counselor Before Taking Any DSST Exam.

Good luck and happy testing.
